About This Program

Grounding Resilience in Training (GRIT) is essentially using existing knowledge & tools to address common problems in different/specific populations. Grounding Resilience In Training draws on existing knowledge of both “grit psychology” & equine-assisted activities. The Topfield GRIT program consists of four, hour-long weekly sessions of working with a horse, a licensed Social Worker, & PATH certified professional, alongside a small group of peers, from the ground. Participants will learn the basics of horse care, grooming, and handling (on crossties, on lead rope, and in the arena). Additionally, participants will learn about horse behavior and safety while practicing non-verbal communication, internal/external emotional self-regulation and self-reflection, all while connecting with an animal in a safe, accessible, and consistent environment. GRIT for Recovery meets starting on the first Thursday of every month at 6 pm, but other times are available. Give us a call anytime if you’d like to get on the list for one of our GRIT programs!

Cancellation Policy

To help us plan the best experience for everyone, we usually schedule appointments at least a week in advance and payment is required at the time of booking. We understand things come up, but to keep things running smoothly, we can't reschedule missed appointments or those canceled within 24 hours of your appointment time. With more than 24 hours notice, we're happy to reschedule up to two appointments per year. While we don't offer refunds for scheduled lessons/appointments, if we have to cancel on our end, we'll definitely reschedule when possible, or credit your account. Thanks for your understanding as we work to make our adaptive services wonderful for everyone!
